Orion

Built with
Electron · Whisper · Ollama · Node.js

A floating desktop assistant that answers from my own memory, by voice, without anything leaving the machine.

Press a hotkey anywhere, or say “Orion”, and an orb appears with a question box. It looks the question up in Jarvis Memory and answers with a model running locally.

What it does

  • Speech is recognised on the device by Whisper, and answers are read aloud
  • A wake word: say its name and it appears already listening
  • A few actions by fixed rules: remember something, open a project, add files to memory
  • Under every answer it lists the memories it used

What I cared about

Trust. The microphone is only open while the wake word is on, each phrase is checked locally and thrown away if it does not start with the name, and saving anything asks first. Orion decides what to do from my own words by fixed rules, so nothing it reads in a file can make it act.

The guide on this site is the same idea, brought to the browser.
